There is a mermaid named Lorelie in the town of Unity in Maine. It was created by Maine wildlife sculptor Forest Hart and presented as a gift to Bert and Coral Clifford. The Cliffords in turn donated it to the Unity College Center for Performing Arts.
The mermaid is located in the garden next to the Performing Arts building in an idyllic spot under a tree and next to a garden bench.
She holds a starfish in her left hand while sitting on top of a cresting wave.
