In Greek mythology Triton is the son of Poseidon, and the Nereids are the daughters of Nereus and Doris. Italian artist Carlos Esprino sculpted “Triton and Nereida” in 1987 as merman and mermaid lovers reaching for each other.
The sculpture is located prominently on Puerto Vallarta’s Malecón, the city’s beautiful coastal promenade, which features many sculptures and much art, and a lot shops.
I’ve created this page with many more photos and information about this sculpture.
