You will find the mermaid statue “Sirena de Boca” in a small alcove by Boulevard Manuel Ávila Camacho next to the Gulf of Mexico in Boca del Río, Veracruz. The Isla de Sacrificios (Island of Sacrifices) is about a mile off-shore.

Sculptor Ricardo Ponzanelli created the mermaid statue in bronze and named it “Sirena de Boca”. He placed it here in November of 2007.
The inscription by the City Council quotes part of a poem by Cuban poet Julián del Casal entitled “El Poeta y la Sirena” (The Poet and the Mermaid).
