On the South Korean island of Geomundo, the Shin-ji-ke Yeo (Sinjiki) Mermaid sculpture was unveiled in November 2010.

According to legends, she was Queen of Inoki Island in Japan, but fell in love with Seo-bok. She followed him to Geomundo in his quest to find the Medicine of Immortality. They stranded and she perished, but then became a mermaid – waiting for him to return and meanwhile helping fishermen by warning them of storms coming in.
