This mermaid was installed in 2013 as part of artificial reefs being built to replace natural coral reefs destroyed in the 1980s by the fishing industry. Is is below the surface in Jemeluk Bay, near Amed Beach on Bali.

Installations like these serve as both diving destinations for tourists and as havens for fish and corals, helping to restore life and diversity.
