This fabulous mermaid statue appeared in Cayucos in about 2005. It is located in front of a realty office and near the Mermaid Rock Soap company. It became the inspiration for an annual Cayucos mermaid parade.
The sea-shell bracelets, the hair clearly suspended in water and the special folds around the eyes are special features it shares with two stunning mermaid sculptures in Ventura, further down the California coast. While the artist is not known, it is clear the same artist created all 3 mermaid sculptures.
