The mermaid statue at Pier View Plaza in Cayucos, California is very similar in style to the mermaids at Soter Point in Ventura and was clearly created by the same artist. map
This mermaid statue appeared in Cayucos in about 2005. It is located in front of a realty office and has become the inspiration for an annual mermaid parade in Cayucos.
The sea-shell bracelets, the hair clearly suspended in water and the special folds around the eyes are unique touches it shares with the Ventura mermaids.
Cayucos has a rich calendar of events every year, attracting many tourists. There are numerous shops with a wide variety of mermaid-related art, and the annual events include the aforementioned mermaid parade, a month-long mermaid art exhibit all across town, a Mermaid Ball on the Pier and various other events.
