The Yeongdo Lighthouse Mermaid was unveiled in 2004 and stands a few feet directly in front of the lighthouse, facing Japan. The lighthouse is located inside the Taejongdae Park. map
The Taejongdae Park is surpassingly beautiful, with magnificent cliffs and spectacular views. The lighthouse itself is several hundred feet above the water, and is part of the park itself.
With many sculptures in the area around the lighthouse, and several large viewing platforms, it is an extremely popular tourist attraction.
The stairs winding down around the lighthouse take you to the cliffs and eventually all the way down to the water.
