The town of Drøbak in Norway has 3 lively mermaid statues by the marina, created by Reidar Finsrud, who was commissioned by Ingeborg Lane. map

Mrs. Lane lived in Drøbak for many years prior to moving to London in 1963, and was well known in the town as she had run a factory there and employed a lot of the citizens.
As a thank you to the Drøbak community for the years she lived there, Ingeborg commissioned the mermaid statues and donated them to the city’s marina.
The plaque by the mermaids reads:
“DE TRE HAVFRUER”
Gitt til Drøbak av Ingeborg Drangsholt
med takk for byens store
hjelpsomhet
Translation:
“THE THREE MERMAIDS”
Given to Drøbak by Ingeborg Drangsholt
with thanks for the town’s great
helpfulness
