Sirena y Dolfines Mermaid Sculpture in La Paz

This sculpture "Mermaid with Dolphins" was created by Zacatecan sculptor, painter and musician José Kuri Breña (1913-2004) and was unveiled here on the Malecón of La Paz on October 17, 2007, at the end of Guadelupe Victoria Street, as a donation by Hotel La Concha Beach Resort.  map

The La Paz Malecón is the seaside promenade, and it stretches for several miles, with bronze sculptures along the way of stingrays, sharks, mermaids and dolphins, whales, gigantic conch shells, pearl mussels and other ocean related figures.

La Paz is located on the eastern side of the Baja California Peninsula and is a popular vacation spot for water sports and for eco-tourism due to the rich marine species diversity.
