In April of 2012 a bronze mermaid statue was installed in Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island, Washington. map

The statue was sculpted by Larry Marcell in early 2012 and installed in April of that year. The dedication from Marcell included these words:
This sculpture was made for the people of Oak Harbor & I wish to dedicate it to our nurses who are there
for us when we need them most. With my thanks to you both, Larry Marcell."
