Putri Duyung means "mermaid" in Indonesian. Putri Duyung Ancol literally means “Mermaid of Ancol Bay” and is an exotic beach resort hotel on the north coast of Jakarta in Ancol Bay. The hotel is part of Ancol Dreamland, an amusement park complex which includes Fantasy World, SeaWorld, the Atlantis Water Adventure and more. At the entrance is this mermaid fountain. map

Jakarta is on the island of Jawa, the biggest of the thousands of volcanic islands that make up Indonesia. Known for its beaches, volcanoes, komodo dragons and jungles sheltering elephants, orangutans and tigers, Indonesia clearly also has a tradition of mermaid legends.
