About 60' under the surface of Powell River near Saltery Bay in British Columbia divers often visit the Emerald Princess, a 9' bronze mermaid statue. map
The 600-pound bronze mermaid statue by Simon Morris was placed in sixty feet of water in 1989, off the beach at Mermaid Cove, a very popular diving site.
Over time a lot of sea-life attaches to and grows on the sculpture, but she was cleaned in 2010 and is in good shape.
An identical mermaid statue named Amphitrite was placed off the coast of Grand Cayman in the year 2000. Both statues are visited by large numbers of divers each year.
