The Emerald Princess Mermaid Statue

The 600-pound bronze mermaid statue by Simon Morris was placed in sixty feet of water in 1989, off the beach at Mermaid Cove, a very popular diving site.

Over time a lot of sea-life will attach to and grow on the sculpture, but having been cleaned in 2010 she is now back in great shape, as you can see in this video from 2012.

An identical mermaid statue named Amphitrite was placed off the coast of Grand Cayman in the year 2000. Both statues are visited by large numbers of divers each year.
