Mermaid statue in Leopoldpark, Oostende

Dating back to 1880 or so, Leopoldpark is located at the site of a previous zoo and botanical garden.   It contains a number of rare trees and animals as a result, and some unusual statues.   There is a swimming statue, there is the statue of fat Matilda, and there is an elegant mermaid statue.  map

The mermaid statue was created in bronze by Willy Kreitz in 1959.     There is a plaque on a stone pillar just beyond the left edge of this photo.   A close-up photo of this plaque would be very welcome.
